@professorkliq ...while allowing freedom-compliant and freedom-promoting commercial uses (e.g. being sold in a !copyleft music compilation)
-
@professorkliq CC-BY-SA dissallows free usage in ads (since it requires BY) or copyrighted content (since it's not-SA compatible)...
-
At school, that is.
-
Let it be known that I went to school for music for a reason. I think that CC is the right way, but let the artist decide.
-
If it's commercial, I'd prefer you ask. That's my decision and that's why the license exists.
-
Obviously not everyone is Coca-Cola. CC licenses make it known what you can do with work without having to ask.

@mray to each his own!

@mray i just think that ship has sailed a long time ago
-
@mray just bc its marketing doesn't mean you can't footnote or annotate it and tell the truth
-
@mray that would be about as ridiculous as adele claiming for her 'lovesong' cover all the statistics / awards of the original cure song
-
@mray the point is, a specific brand / downstream cannot claim statistics of its upstream / generic product for its own
-
@mray your point is perpendicular sadly
-
@mray saying 'GNU/Linux' tells me more about the person saying that then what they are talking about
-
@mray glad you thought it was interesting :)
-
@mray I like all of those, but also think using IProvenance to get people thinking about something completely different, nonlegal, is good
-
@mray there are many attacks on IProperty, including not saying, increasing accuracy/pejorative (privilege, protectionism) ...
-
@mray I think of it as a tribute to IP, by which I mean Intellectual Provenance.
-
@mray how? can imagine user-provided and moderated sources, eg I tell #ibrefm http://ur1.ca/50k1e libre bc http://ur1.ca/50k1h says BY-SA
-
@mray upload to Jamendo or maybe ask a developer on IRC; added req to make this obvious http://bugs.foocorp.net/issues/546
